Raymond Cline entered the U.S. Army in 1917 Hometown: Williamstown, NJ Served in the 309th Infantry Regiment, 78th Division Died September 18, 1918 Buried at: Plot B Row 8 Grave 39 Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery, Romagne, France (This information from the National Archives).
Captain Leon Rennebaum was a member of Post 252 for 54 years. He served in the 628th Tank Destroyer Battalion during World War II. He received the Purple Heart for wounds received in 1944 in Germany and a Distinguished Service Cross for courage shown Sept 16 and 17, 1944. Later he received the Legion of Valor, a New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal, and a Gloucester County Service Medal. He was married to Helen Leonhardt and had two children: Leon Jr. and William Sharp. He lived in Monroe Twp for 84 years where he received the Williamstown Man of the Year Award in 1970 – 1971, as well as many other recognitions and awards. The American Legion, this town and all Post 252 members now and in the future will forever remember him.
